The Aura Lodge: a paradise for fishermen
We offer you the opportunity to spend your days fishing in a protected area, just steps from the cabins and guided by experienced anglers. Most of the rivers and lakes are exclusively for fly fishing and catch and release: they are home to rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, and landlocked salmon. Almost all fishing destinations are within an hour's drive, whether by car, boat, or motorboat.
A typical day of fishing
The day begins after breakfast, when the guide will explain the specific fishing conditions for the day (type of fishing, wading, etc.). Then, at midday, the group will share a delicious outdoor lunch. And after an exciting day of fishing, back at the lodge, a selection of drinks and appetizers will precede dinner.

- Aura Lodge is located on the southern shore of Lago Verde, a small and beautiful lake into which the famous Rivadavia River flows and from which the Arrayanes River originates. Less than an hour from the lodge, you can access several sections of the Carrileufú River for rafting.
- These rivers are not only excellent fishing grounds but also possess a dazzling beauty.
- Rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout and landlocked salmon are caught.

- The season opens on November 1st and closes on April 30th
- Spring (November and December) is the best time for nymph fishing, while Autumn (March and April) is the best time for dry flies.
- In November the days can be cold (temperature range between 0°C and 20°C) but the weather warms up as summer approaches.
- During January, February and March the weather is quite warm during the day and cool at night (temperature range between 10°C and 30°C).
Equipment
- If you plan to bring only one cane, Therefore, the best choice is a 9-foot rod for a 6-weight line, as it adapts to almost all fishing conditions.
- A good reel with an extra spool for two lines is also necessary, one floating WF and one sinking ST or WF.
- If you're a dry fly fishing enthusiast, you can add an 8-foot rod for a 4 or 5 weight line for smaller streams. Conversely, if you prefer streamer fishing, you can add a 7 or 8 weight rod for easier casting of larger flies.
- 9/12 foot leaders and 3x to 5x tippets.
- Don't forget the flies. Dry flies in sizes 10 to 16, such as Adams, Wulffs, Goddard Caddies, Humpy, Irresistible, and Grasshoppers, must be in your fly box. Nymphs in sizes 6 to 14, such as Stonefly, Prince, Hare's Ear, and Montana, should also be included.
Streamers? Bring them in sizes 4 to 10: Olive Green and Black Buggers, Matukas, Muddlers.
- The guides will provide you with some local designs, but we also suggest you try your favorites.
- If you plan to travel in spring or towards the end of the season, we suggest neoprene waders. For summer (January and February), lightweight waders are suitable. Wading boots with felt soles are also essential.
